Ignition Wire Routing

NOTE: Proper spark plug wire installation is critical to vehicle operation.  If one wire is not properly installed on a plug or ignition coil, both spark

plugs connected to that ignition coil may not fire under load.

Spark Plug Wire Removal Tool

Use a proper plug wire removal tool.  Grasp and twist boot back and forth on plug insulator to free boot.  Do not pull directly on wire or it may
become separated from its connector inside the boot.

Remove wires from coil pack by squeezing locking tabs and using a twisting, pulling motion.  Do not pull on wires.

Whenever ignition wires are removed from plugs or coil for any reason, apply an appropriate silicone dielectric compound to boots prior to
installation.  Coat the entire interior surface of boots with compound.

4.

Install wires on proper coil terminals and spark plugs.  Terminal cylinder numbers are identified on the coil pack.

5.

Ensure that coil wire boots are fully seated on plugs and that both coil boot retainer locking tabs are engaged.

6.

Remove wire retaining brackets from old wire set and install in same relative positions on new set.  Connect wires to retaining brackets on engine.
