DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may experience a no sound or intermittent sound operation from the rear speakers. Prior to the production change date, the rear speaker
terminals are exposed in the luggage compartment area. The terminals may come into contact with the cargo (especially large, bulky baggages) and may
break causing the inoperable condition(s).
After August 31, 1992, the rear speakers have been turned one (1) speaker screw position (or +/- 1205) away from the luggage compartment area. This
change "hides" the rear speaker terminals. They are no longer exposed in the luggage compartment area.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
If the above condition occurs, inspect the speaker cord connector and speaker terminals. If the speaker cord connector is broken, replace with a short
cord assembly and reposition both speakers as outlined in the procedures below. If the speaker terminal(s) is broken, replace the affected speaker(s).
If the speaker terminal in either one of the speakers is broken, replace the affected speaker as follows:
1.
Open the rear trunk and remove the speaker cord connector.
2.
From the passenger area, remove the fasteners and the rear package trim.
3.
Remove the three (3) screws on each speaker. Figure 1.
4.
Remove damaged speaker(s).
