Idle/Bypass Air Control Valve: Testing and Inspection
INSPECTION
Idle Speed Control (ISC) Valve
1.
Warm up engine and run at idle.
2.
Remove connector. Check for "click" sound and engine speed increase to approximately 1200 rpm.
3.
If engine speed does not increase and no other problem is detected, replace ISC valve.
RESISTANCE CHECK
Idle Speed Control (ISC) Valve Testing
1.
Disconnect ISC valve connector.
2.
Check resistance across valve terminals. It should be 11 - 13 ohms at 20°C (68°F).
3.
If not as specified, replace valve.
ISC valve output voltage can be checked at ECU terminal 2W. With ignition switch "ON," voltage should be approximately 7V. At idle, voltage should
be approximately 9V.
