Trunk / Liftgate: Service and Repair
Trunk Lid

WARNING:  Removing the balance spring without removing the trunk lid can be dangerous. The trunk lid may fall and injure you. Remove
the trunk lid before removing the balance spring. Perform these procedures together with another person.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. To remove the trunk lid hinge, remove the high-mount brake light and rear package trim.
3. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
4. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Balance Spring Removal Note
1. Carefully lift the balance spring by using a tapewrapped screwdriver.

2. Remove the balance spring.

NOTE:  The balance spring is under high tension.
