3. Apply silicone sealant to the shaded areas shown. Keep the camshaft sliding surface free of sealant to prevent engine damage.
Thickness:
1 mm (0.04 inch)
4. Apply engine oil to the camshaft and cylinder head journals.
5. Install the camshaft caps to the positions from which they were removed.
6. Tighten the camshaft cap bolts in five or six steps in the order shown.
Tightening torque:
11.3 - 14.2 Nm (100 - 125 inch lbs.)
7. Verify that the camshaft settles horizontally when two bearing cap bolts at No.3 journal are tightened.
8. Apply clean engine oil to the lip of the new camshaft oil seal.
9. Push the oil seal slightly in by hand.
10. Tap the oil seal in evenly by using a pipe and a hammer.
