Lubricate and slide the new shaft seal over the SST. Figure 5.

NOTE:
Ensure the shaft seal is installed in the correct direction. Figure 5.

Place a 21 mm (13/16 in) deep socket over the shaft. Figure 6.

Push the shaft seal down until it bottoms. Remove the seal protector SST. Figure 6.

NOTE:
Use hand pressure ONLY to install the shaft seal.

Install the snap ring, the felt, and the shaft key. Figure 7.

CAUTION:
Ensure the snap ring is installed with the tapered edge down (large diameter side up).
