Intake Air Temperature Sensor: Description and Operation
In Dynamic Chamber

The Intake Air Thermosensor, located in the intake air system near the throttle valve, detects intake air temperature.  The ECU uses this input in its
calculations for fuel injection quantity, idle speed, fuel pump resistor operation and pressure regulator control.

The sensor is a thermistor device whose resistance varies with changes in air temperature.  By sending a reference voltage and comparing it to voltage
received from the sensor, the ECU can calculate an electrical value for air temperature.

Sensor resistance measurements are as follows:

K OHMS

AIR TEMP.

33 ± 4

25°C / 77°F

3.5 ± 0.4

85°C / 185°F
