Fig. 4  Wheel & Differential Side Boots

1.

Wrap splines of wheel side of the shaft and install boot and a new boot band. The wheel side and the differential side boots are different, Fig.
4. Wheel side boot diameter should be 3.88 inch for non-turbo models or 4.06 inch for turbo models. Differential side boot diameter
should be 3.76 inch for non-turbo models or 3.90 inch for turbo models.

Fold the band back over itself while pulling on the end of the clip.

3.

Lock the end of the band by bending the locking clip.

4.

Install differential side boot with a new boot band (the portion with the smaller diameter).

5.

Attach the clip to the clip groove in the shaft.

6.

Assembly cage, inner race and balls in the following order:
a. Insert the inner race into the cage, and turn the cage approximately 30° with respect to the inner race.
b. Install the balls through the cage and into the ball groove of the inner race.
c. Fill inside of the ball joint assembly with suitable grease included with the repair kit.

7.

Install cage onto the shaft.

8.

Install snap ring into shaft snap ring groove.

9.

Install differential side boot onto the outer race and the boot groove of the shaft assembly.

10.

Secure boot with a new boot band.

11.

After assembly driveshaft should measure 24.80-26.22 inches in length for non-turbo models or 24.17-25.63 inches in length for turbo models.
