Lateral Stabilizer Rod: Service and Repair
Upper & Lower Link
1.
Raise and support vehicle at front lower link bracket.
2.
Remove rear wheel, then support axle housing with a suitable jack.
3.
Remove upper and lower link attaching nuts and bolts, then the upper and lower links.
4.
Reverse procedure to install. Torque attaching nuts to 66 ft.lbs. When installing upper link to axle housing bracket, make sure that bolt head is
positioned toward inside of vehicle. Lower vehicle to curb load position before tightening nuts to specified torque.
Watts Link
1.
Raise and support vehicle at lower suspension link bracket.
2.
Support axle housing with a suitable jack.
3.
Remove watt link to frame attaching nuts and bolts.
4.
Remove watt link bracket to axle housing attaching nut.
5.
Remove watt link and bracket from vehicle.
6.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following;
a. Install watt link with painted mark positioned toward outside of vehicle.
b. Lower vehicle, then torque watt link to frame attaching nuts to 53 ft.lbs. and watt link bracket to axle housing attaching nuts to 66 ft.lbs.
