Anti-Lock Brake System Speed Sensor: Service and Repair
Rear Wheel Speed Sensor & Rotor

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove rear wheel and tire assembly.

2.

Remove locknut and washer from spindle, Fig. 89.

3.

Remove brake caliper retaining bolts, then the caliper.

4.

Remove the disc brake rotor, speed sensor attaching bolt, then the speed sensor.

5.

Remove the wheel hub, rotor, four dust cover retaining screws, then the dust cover. Pull rotor from outer toe control hub using wheel hub puller,
tool No. 49 F026 103 and bearing installer 49 F026 102, or equivalents.

6.

Remove retaining screws, then the rotor from wheel hub.

7.

Remove retaining ring, then the wheel bearing.

8.

Remove toe control outer hub.

9.

Reverse procedure to install. Clearance between speed sensor pick-up and rotor should measure .0157-.0394 inch.
