Alignment: Service and Repair
Front Wheel Alignment
Preliminary Checks
1.
Ensure tire pressure is as specified by manufacturer.
2.
Inspect ball joints and steering linkage for excessive looseness. Repair as required.
3.
Ensure vehicle is level and has no luggage or passenger load.
Camber
1.
Raise and support front of vehicle, then open hood.
2.
Remove four shock absorber mounting block to fender attaching nuts.
3.
Push mounting block downward and turn it until specified angles are obtained.
4.
Install four shock absorber mounting block to fender attaching bolts. Torque bolts to 29-43 ft. lbs.
Caster
Caster and camber are adjusted at the same time. Refer to CAMBER adjustment procedure.
King Pin Inclination
Kingpin inclination is not adjustable and is set to specifications during production. Whenever kingpin inclination is moved out of specified angle, check
all parts of front suspension and body alignment. Repair or replace defective part(s) as required.
Toe-In
1.
Loosen left and right tie rod locknuts.
2.
Turn both tie rods the same amount until specified adjustment is obtained. Both tie rods have righthand threads.
3.
Torque tie rod locknut to 51-58 ft. lbs.
4.
If boot is twisted, loosen boot band and straighten.
Vehicle Ride Height
Ensure vehicle is on a level surface, then measure height from center of wheel to fender brim. There should not be more than .39 inch difference between
right and left sides.
