Heat Hazard Sensor: Testing and Inspection
Heat Hazard Sensor Lamp
1. Turn the ignition switch on and verify that the heat hazard warning lamp illuminates.
2. Start the engine and verify that the warning lamp goes out.
3. Remove the right front seat and lift up the floormat.

4. Disconnect that the heat hazard sensor connector.
5. Check that the heat hazard sensor warning lamp illuminates when a jumper wire is connected to the terminals of the sensor connector (harness
side).
6. Remove the heat hazard sensor.
Testing Heat Hazard Sensor
7. Wrap the sensor and a thermometer in aluminum foil and place them in a container of oil.
8. Connect a test lamp and 12 volts to the terminal of the sensor connector.
9 Gradually heat the oil. Verify that the test lamp comes on when the temperature in the aluminum foil reaches 105-115°C (221-239°F).
CAUTION: DO NOT heat the oil to more than 150°C (302°F).
10. Replace the sensor, if necessary.
11. Install the sensor in the vehicle and connect it to the wiring harness.
12. Replace the floormat and install the front seat.
