Fuel Rail: Description and Operation
Fuel Injectors And Intake System Components
The fuel rails are reservoirs that supply fuel at equal pressure to all the injectors. Their volume is larger than that of a fuel hose or tube so that when one
injector opens, it doesn't cause a pressure drop in the fuel supplied to the other injectors.
Because of the location of the injectors, the rotary engine uses two fuel rails. One bolts directly to the rotor housings (primary fuel rail). This is the short
fuel rail that holds the primary injectors in place, and has a pulsation damper built into the inlet end. The other (secondary) installs on the intake manifold
lower section. It holds the secondary fuel injectors in place, and has the fuel pressure regulator built into its outlet end.
