Fuel Pressure: Component Tests and General Diagnostics
FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE SERVICE PROCEDURE
WARNING:

Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related component. Highly
flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

Fuel supply tubes will remain pressurized for long periods of time after engine shutdown. This pressure must be relieved before repairing
of the fuel system has begun. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
NOTE: Before disconnecting any fuel tube,
1. Release the fuel pressure from the fuel system. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE.
2. Disconnect the fuel line at the fuel injection supply manifold. See QUICK RELEASE COUPLING - DOUBLE LOCKING.
3. Install the Schrader Valve service tool adapter #310-100.
4. Install the fuel pressure gauge.
5. Install the fuel pump relay.
NOTE: It may take more than one key cycle to re-pressurize the fuel system.
6. Cycle the key and wait three seconds to repressurize the fuel system. Check for leaks before starting the engine.
7. Start and run the engine to purge air from the fuel system (air trapped in the fuel system may affect test results).
8. Perform normal diagnostics and service repairs as needed.
9. After fuel system service is complete, relieve fuel pressure using fuel pressure gauge relief valve.
10. Remove special service tools.
11. Reconnect fuel system lines.
NOTE: It may take more than one key cycle to re-pressurize the fuel system.
12. Cycle the key and wait three seconds to repressurize the fuel system. Check for leaks before starting the engine.
NOTE: It is possible that a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) may be set due to the fuel pump relay being pulled and the engine started and run out
of fuel. If DTCs are set, clear all the DTCs before returning the vehicle to the customer.
13. Start the vehicle and check for leaks.
