12. Remove the two steering gear mounting bolts.
13. Raise the vehicle on the hoist.

Note:  With the mounting bolts removed, slide the gear forward to separate the steering coupling from the steering gear shaft.

14. Remove the steering gear.
15. If replacing the steering gear, remove the inner tie rod ends.

Installation 

1. Install the inner tie rod ends, if removed.

Note:  With the mounting bolts removed, slide the gear rearward to connect the steering coupling to the steering gear shaft.

2. Position the steering gear in the vehicle.
3. Lower the hoist.

4. Install the two steering gear mounting bolts.
5. Install the steering shaft boot.

6. Install the steering shaft.

1. Install the nut.
2. Verify the coupling is aligned correctly.
