Drive Belt Tensioner: Service and Repair

ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT TENSIONER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - 2.5L
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See See: Maintenance/Vehicle Lifting/Service and Repair/Lifting.
2. Remove the pin-type retainer, 5 bolts and the RH splash shield.

To install, tighten to 9 Nm {0.9 kgf-m, 80 in-lbf}.
NOTE:The accessory drive belt tensioner must be replaced as a complete unit.
3. Using the hex feature, rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner clockwise and remove the accessory drive belt from the water pump pulley and
remove the accessory drive belt from the pulley.
4. Remove the 2 bolts and the accessory drive belt tensioner.

To install, tighten to 25 Nm {2.5 kgf-m, 18 ft-lbf}.
NOTE:The accessory drive belt tensioner must be replaced as a complete unit.
5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
