Wheel Cylinder: Removal and Replacement

WHEEL CYLINDER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Use of any other than approved DOT 3 motor vehicle brake fluid will cause permanent damage to brake components and will render
the brakes inoperative. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

Caution
^

Brake fluid is harmful to painted and plastic surfaces. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, immediately wash it
with water.

1. Remove the rear brake shoes. 
2. Disconnect the brake tube fitting.

To install, tighten to 15 N-m (1.5 kgf-m, 11 ft-lbf).

3. Remove the 2 wheel cylinder bolts and remove the wheel cylinder.

To install, tighten to 11 N-m (1.1 kgf-m, 8 ft-lbf).

4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Bleed the brake hydraulic system.
