NOTE: The safety canopy module deployment for a scrapped vehicle will occur in its installed position in the vehicle.
NOTE: The left hand side is shown, the right hand side is similar.
1. Depower the system. See SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DEPOWERING AND REPOWERING.
2. Remove the D-pillar trim panel from the same side as the safety canopy to be disposed.
3. Cut and strip the wires near the electrical connector.
4. Obtain two wires (20 gauge minimum) at least 9.1 meters (30 feet) long and attach one end of each wire to the stripped wires on the safety canopy
module.
5. Remain at least 6.1 meters (20 feet) away from the vehicle.
6. Deploy the safety canopy module by touching the other ends of the two wires to the terminals of a 12 volt battery.
7. To allow for cooling, wait at least ten minutes before approaching the deployed safety canopy module.
8. Dispose of the deployed safety canopy module in the same manner as any other part to be scrapped.

Removal
WARNING: Carry a live air bag module with the air bag and trim cover pointed away from your body. This will reduce the risk of injury in
the event of an accidental deployment.
WARNING: Do not set a live air bag module down with the trim cover face down. This will reduce the risk of injury in the event of an
accidental deployment.
WARNING: When installing a drivers air bag module (soft pack), make sure there are no foreign objects in the steering wheel cavity or in the
driver air bag module (soft pack). Failure to do so may result in personal injury in the event of an air bag deployment.
WARNING: Do not dislodge the fabric from the air bag module (soft pack). In the event that the air bag fabric becomes dislodged, install a
new air bag module (soft pack). Failure to do so may result in personal injury in the event of an air bag deployment.
