2008 Tribute vehicles equipped with Automatic Transaxle (ATX)
built from Jan. 19, 2007 to Feb. 12, 2007
DESCRIPTION
Some Tribute vehicles may exhibit a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) B2572, and the brake shift interlock will not release the transmission shift lever
from the park position. This may be caused by a brake shift interlock solenoid with high resistance.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Verify customer concern.
2.
Check that (10A) fuse number 5 is good.
3.
Apply brake pedal and view brake lights to verify brake lights illuminate.
4.
Record customers radio pre-set stations.
5.
Disconnect negative battery cable.
6.
Inspect vehicle wire harness connector is fully installed at shifter assembly.
7.
Check brake shift interlock solenoid resistance at selector lever electrical connector.

If brake shift interlock solenoid resistance is greater than 30 ohms, replace shifter assembly according to Workshop Manual (section 05-14).

If brake shift interlock solenoid resistance is less than 30 ohms, troubleshoot according to Workshop Manual (section 05-01).
8.
Reconnect negative battery cable.
9.
Re-enter customers radio pre-set stations.
