Windshield Washer Reservoir: Service and Repair

WASHER PUMP AND RESERVOIR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See  See: Maintenance/Vehicle Lifting/Service and Repair/Lifting.

2. Remove the RH front fender splash shield. See  See: Body and Frame/Fender/Front Fender/Service and Repair/Fender Splash Shield

Removal/Installation.

3. Disconnect the washer pump electrical connector.

4. Disconnect the washer pump hoses.

Gently twist the lock ring until the ring has rotated approximately 90 degrees.

The hose should slide easily out of the connection.

To install, make sure the hoses are fully seated and locked into place.

CAUTION: To prevent damage to the connector, do not use hand tools to remove/install the washer pump hose.

NOTE: To prevent spilling windshield washer fluid, drain the windshield washer reservoir before removal.

5. Rotate the lock ring back to the original location.

CAUTION: Do not leave the lock ring in the dissembled position. This will weaken the ring and may prevent it from correctly locking in place when
reassembled, resulting in a leak. 

6. Remove the 2 windshield washer reservoir bolts and the windshield washer reservoir.

To install, tighten to 6 Nm {0.6 kgf-m, 53 in-lbf}.

CAUTION: When installing a new washer pump, be careful not to damage the rubber grommet. 

7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Fill the windshield washer reservoir with windshield washer fluid.

CAUTION: Do not operate the washer pump prior to filling the windshield washer reservoir. Failure to follow these instructions may result in premature
pump failure.
