CLIMATE CONTROL TEMPERATURE VARIATION FROM SIDE TO SIDE

2008-2009 Tribute Hybrid vehicles built before December 17, 2008
DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may exhibit intermittent or erratic side to side temperature difference and/or temperature fluctuation from the climate control vents. The
concern may be with the temperature blend door actuators.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer concern.
2. Remove driver's and passenger's temperature blend door actuators.

For driver's side actuator refer to MS3 online repair information or Workshop Manual section 07-40 TEMPERATURE BLEND DOOR
ACTUATOR - LH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (HYBRID ONLY).

For passenger's side actuator refer to M53 online repair information or Workshop Manual section 07-40
TEMPERATURE BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR - RH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.
3. Inspect the 5 digit manufacturer's date code (A) and P/N (B) on both temperature blend door actuators.
a. If P/N 8L84-19E616-EA and date code 30708 or lower, replace both temperature blend door actuators.
b. If P/N 8L84-19E616-EA and date code 30808 or higher, reinstall both actuators and continue with normal diagnostics.
c. If P/N is not 8L84-19E616-EA, reinstall the actuators and continue with normal diagnostics.
NOTE:
Inspect the 5 digit manufacture's date code on the new actuators before installing to ensure updated parts are installed.
4. Verify repair.
