DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may exhibit the traction control light on with DTC C1440. If the vehicle is operated for an extended period following the illumination of
the traction control light, a slight brake drag condition may be observed.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer concern.
2. If both the traction control light and DTC C1440 are present, then replace the brake pedal switch according to MS3 online or Workshop Manual
(section 09-18 BRAKE PEDAL POSITION (BPP) SWITCH REMOVAL/ INSTALLATION). If only one is present, and not the other, then proceed
with normal diagnostics according to MS3 online or Workshop Manual (section 04-01 ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) DTC CHART).
NOTE:
DO NOT PRESS OR PULL ON BRAKE PEDAL WHEN INSTALLING OR REMOVING THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH OTHERWISE
MISADJUSTMENT OR DAMAGE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH CAN OCCUR.
3. Verify repair.
