MANUAL TRANSAXLE GEARSHIFT LEVER RATTLE/BUZZ IN 3RD GEAR

2001 Tribute 2.0L equipped with four wheel drive
DESCRIPTION
Some 2001 2.0L 4x4 Tributes equipped with manual transaxles may exhibit gearshift lever buzz, rattle, or whine in 3rd gear. This may be caused by the
gearshift cables transmitting normal road/driveline vibrations to the gearshift lever.
To prevent buzz/rattle on the gearshift lever, new gearshift cables which come with additional grease inside the cable housing that will dampen the
vibrations.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Verify concern.
2.
Remove and install the new gearshift cables according to Workshop Manual (section 05-12 GEARSHIFT LINKAGE - 4X4).

If the vehicle was built before 03/14/2001, use part number ECY2-46-500.

If the vehicle was built on or after 03/14/2001, use part number ECO9-46-500A.
NOTE:
Verify the correct part number is ordered based on the vehicle production date or VIN.
3.
Verify repair.
