Safety Belt Shoulder Height Adjuster

SAFETY BELT SHOULDER HEIGHT ADJUSTER

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

WARNING:  All safety belt assemblies including retractors, buckles, front seat belt buckle support assemblies (slide bar), shoulder belt height
adjusters (If so equipped), child safety seat tether attachments, and attaching hardware should be inspected after any collision. All belt
assemblies should be replaced unless a qualified technician finds the assemblies show no damage and operate properly. Belt assemblies not in
use during a collision should also be inspected and replaced if either damage or improper operation is noted.

WARNING:  If the side air bag sensor is subjected to shock or the sensor is disassembled, the side air bag module may operate (deploy) suddenly and
cause injury, or it may fail to operate normally and cause a serious accident. Do not subject the side air bag sensor to shock or disassemble the sensor.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute.

NOTE:  The driver-side is shown, the passenger-side is similar.

2. Remove the B-pillar trim panel.
3. Lower the height adjuster.

4. Remove the upper height adjuster bolt.
5. Raise the height adjuster.

6. Remove the height adjuster. 

1. Remove the bolt.
2. Remove the height adjuster.

NOTE:  Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted prior to installation.

NOTE:  Make sure to tighten bolts to specification.

7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

1. Make sure that the front safety belt retractor is not in the Automatic Locking Retractor (ALR) mode.

8. Check the active restraint system for correct operation.

1. Carry out the Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) Mode Functional Test to make sure that the new retractor operates correctly. For additional

information, refer to Component Test in the Diagnosis and Testing portion of this section.
