Brake Rotor/Disc: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1.
Remove hex-head bolts from caliper and remove floating caliper from steering knuckle.
2.
Support caliper (including hose) in wheelhouse by means of a suitable hook.
3.
On all vented disks and on solid disks starting September 1984, remove lock screw from disk.
4.
Remove disk from wheel hub.
INSTALLATION
1.
Remove any rust or burrs from contact surfaces between brake disk and wheel hub.
2.
If installing a NEW brake rotor, remove corrosion protection from rotor with cleaning solvent.
3.
Mount rotor to hub ensuring that two dowel sleeves are seated in brake disk cup.
4.
Install lock screw and tighten to 10 Nm.
5.
Install floating caliper using NEW self-locking bolts.
Torque bolts to 115 Nm.
CAUTION:Before test driving vehicle, pump brake pedal several times to establish proper clearance between brake pads and disk.
