Check all parts to make sure they can be reused. Check radial and lateral runout of rear axle shaft flange. Maximum runout not to exceed 0.12 mm
(0.005 in.).
Installation Note: Always replace two-row angular-contact ball bearing after it has been used once.
INSTALLATION
Install in reverse order paying strict attention to installation notes.
Dust Sealing Ring Installed
NOTE: Mercedes recommends installing an extra dust seal for the wheel bearing for vehicles driven on bad roads. The dust sealing ring 124 997
12 40 (8b) in the form of a slinger ring is installed on the spider ring of the rear axle shaft (37a).
