Air/Fuel Mixture: Adjustments

1.

Disconnect oxygen sensor plug (near sensor under vehicle). Observe voltmeter reading and place a piece of tape on voltmeter dial to indicate
needle position.  The needle should not be moving.  This will mark the 50% duty cycle position.

Reconnect oxygen sensor.  The needle should vibrate and the vibrations should be centered around mark on the voltmeter (50% ± 10%).  If not,
then adjustment is necessary.

Remove the plug from the mixture control unit (between the fuel distributor and the air flow sensor funnel). Insert a 3mm Allen wrench and adjust 
air/fuel mixture screw by pushing down until the spring loaded adjuster Fig. 43, engages with the adjustment screw in the air flow sensor arm.
(Pushing down on the adjuster and the air flow sensor arm will alter the air/fuel mixture somewhat.  After each adjustment, disengage the adjuster
and rev the engine slightly to allow the sensor plate to normalize before checking meter reading). 

4.

Adjust until the needle is centered around the mark on voltmeter dial. 

5.

Remove test equipment and replace the plug.
