SUBJECT:
A. IMPROVED WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE MODEL 124 AND 201 WITH EXTENDED REACH WIPER ONLY
B.
MODIFIED ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR FOR WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR MODEL 124 MODEL YEAR 1986
A. Improved Windshield Wiper Arm/Blade (Extended Reach Only)
As of the production dates listed in the table below, an improved windshield wiper arm and blade assembly is installed in production. The new wiper arm
and blade assembly reduces the amount of pressure the rubber blade exerts against the windshield at the outer most point of the swept area. This will
reduce the possibility of windshield scratches in this area.

The new wiper arm is shorter than the previous version while the wiper blade is the same overall length, but the connection point to the wiper arm has
been correspondingly moved closer to the wiper gearhead. The wiper refill remains unchanged.
The new wiper arm and wiper blade can be retrofitted to earlier production vehicles (start of production for model 124 and as of January 1985 for model
201 - extended reach wiper introduction) only as a set.
When ordering, ensure that the manufacturer of the new wiper arm and of the wiper gearhead are the same. This is necessary because the flat surface
machined in the connection shaft (between gearhead and arm) is in a different location depending upon the manufacturer.
Bosch - flat surface faces the windshield SWF - flat surface faces away from the windshield
The blades are interchangeable within a model group.
When retrofitting the new set in place of a previous version, an additional (snap-on) plastic cover is necessary. This cover will fit either the Bosch or
SWF arm of either model group.
When replacing windshields on vehicles produced prior to May 1987 (201) and January 1988 (124) due to customer complaints of windshield scratches,
the new version wiper arm, blade and cover should be installed.
