Radiator Filler Neck - Coolant Leak Complaint

COMPLAINTS OF TRACES OF COOLANT ON THE RADIATOR FILLER NECK (BEHR RADIATOR)

Traces of coolant on the recesses of the radiator filler neck do not indicate leaks in the cooling system and have no adverse effects on the function and
service life of the radiator. Therefore, warranty claims on the policy adjustments concerning "Leaks on radiator filler neck" win not be accepted.

These traces of coolant can only occur if coolant escapes from the spring-loaded radiator cap due to overfilling of the radiator. Since the fitting for the
vent is located approximately 4 mm above the radiator cap sealing surface, the coolant will not completely drain off via the vent line. The residual
coolant can center the recesses between the cast-in reinforcing ring and the filler neck walls through casting voids, and escape. It is not necessary to
replace the radiator.

In case of complaints, the 4 recesses on the filler "neck can be filled with sealing compound (Part No. 123 989 00 20). This procedure can be performed
without removing the radiator or draining the coolant. The cost should be charged to the customer.

NOTE:

Since May 1982 production, the 4 recesses have been omitted on radiators in vehicles that have this type of radiator design (model 240 D only).
