Receiver Drier With Temperature And Pressure Switch

Purpose

The receiver drier (17), which is located in the right fenderwell below the rear headlight cover,is used to remove moisture to prevent freezing of
the expansion valve. In the event of extreme high pressure a fuse located within the housing releases to prevent damage to the rest of the system. 

Operation

R12 flows into the receiver drier via the a/c condenser. The R12, in liquid form, travels through the desecant where it removes any moisture that
may be in the system. The R12 then exits and goes to the expansion valve.
