Swing out the end plate (49) only as far as to allow the removal of the plug (32), control pressure regulating valve (Fig. 4, item 30) and both
springs (28 & 29).

7.

Replace spring (28) with new spring, part no. 123 993 41 01 and reinsert the spring (29), control pressure regulating valve (30) and plug (32).

8.

Tighten the screws of the end plate (49) to a torque of approximately 5 N-m/44 in. lbs.

NOTE:

The modified Control Pressure Increase Valve and the two modified compression springs were installed in production in transmissions starting
with the following end numbers:

042 018 applicable to 4 cylinder engine (616.912) 114 851 applicable to 5 cylinder engine (617.912)

Loosen the fastening screws on the opposite side end plate (Figure 5, item 48) and remove all screws except one.

Swing out the end plate (48) only as far as to allow the removal of the control pressure increase valve (34) and the 1 - 2 shift valve (35) with piston
(Figure 6, item 36) and spring (37).

11.

After exchanging the control pressure increase valve (34) and spring (37) with the modified version, insert the 1 - 2 shift valve together with piston
and new spring (37), as well as control pressure increase valve (new) with spring (38).
