Antenna, Radio: Service and Repair

Removing and installing antenna 

A. Sedan, coupe and convertible 

On version with automatic antenna: 

Disconnect battery ground cable.

Remove mat in trunk.

Sedan and coupe 

Remove panelling on left side of trunk.
Disconnect electrical connection for automatic antenna.
Disconnect ground strap (1).
Screw off bracket (2) on inside on wheelhouse.
Pull antenna (M11) downward, install from below.
Disconnect antenna lead (4).

Note:  From the start of production the antenna inclination is approx. 10° for the sedan and approx. 30° for the coupe. The antenna inclination has

been changed twice for the sedan. As of 02/87 approx. 20° for mechanical antenna only. As of 09/88 approx. 30°.

Convertible

Remove dividing wall between fuel tank and trunk.
Remove panelling on left side of trunk.
Remove receiver and amplifier A2/3 (if present).
Disconnect ground strap (1).
Screw off bracket (2) on inside on wheelhouse.
Pull antenna (M11) downward, install from below.
Disconnect electrical connection for automatic antenna.
Disconnect antenna lead (4).

As of 04.92 an automatic antenna with improved (capacitive) ground has been installed.
