Hydraulic Control Assembly - Antilock Brakes: Service and Repair

REPLACE

1.

Switch ignition off.

2.

Disconnect battery ground cable.

3.

Disconnect brake lines from hydraulic unit.

Plug brake lines and connections openings. Note: Do not loosen sealed center bolt or two hex socket screws next to cover.

5.

Loosen fastening screw and remove cover.

6.

Disconnect grounding strap from pump motor.

7.

Loosen stress relief and remove plug.

8.

Loosen hex. nuts and remove hydraulic unit.

9.

Reverse procedure to install being careful not to mix up brake lines. Run test program.
Identification of brake lines are as follows:
Code V - master cylinder to front axle brake circuit
Code H - master cylinder to rear axle brake circuit
Code I - hydraulic unit to left front wheel
Code r - hydraulic unit to right front wheel
Code h - hydraulic unit to rear brake circuit
