Reassembly Of Camshaft Timing Adjuster 
Using Shop Made Installation Tool

In case of disassembly of the camshaft timing adjuster, follow the instructions described in the attached Work Instructions no. 290. This will allow easier
installation of the camshaft timing adjuster components using a shop-made special installation tool.

These Work Instructions describe the reassembly of the camshaft timing adjuster which requires the use of a shop-made special tool described in Special
Tools.

Procedure

1. Disassemble and remove camshaft timing adjuster (refer to Engines 104 and 119 Job No. 05-217. Engine 120 refer to Engine 104, job no. 05-217).

2. Mount spiral cone spring (14a, Figure 1) and adjustment piston (14, Figure 1) onto flange (Figure 2).

Note:

Match position of large spline on adjustment piston to flange.
