Fan Shroud: Service and Repair

NOTE:  For additional information on the C36 model not specifically listed below refer to AMG.

C36 Information

-

To increase cooling efficiency, the radiator shroud was modified (arrow).

Replacement

1. Remove bottom engine compartment panel at front.

2. On Model 129, remove trim panel (20) at top of radiator.
3. On Model 202, detach coolant line at fan shroud.
4. On all models, remove locking pin (18).
5. Turn fan shroud ring (6) to the left, place over fan.
6. Pull off flat shaped springs (15) upward.
7. Remove fan shroud (5) and fan shroud ring (6).
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

Adjust fan shroud (5) relative to fan, if necessary.

Insert retaining plates (arrows) of fan shroud (5) into the mounts on the radiator.

Ensure the engaging studs are correctly located in the fan shroud (5).
