Accelerator Cable: Adjustments

1.

Check throttle linkage for binding or kinks.  Lubricate and/or repair as needed.

2.

Disconnect the connecting rod.  Move the transfer lever to the idle speed position, making sure that the roller in the slotted lever rests freely
against the end stop.  If these conditions are not met, adjust the connecting rod as needed.  If these conditions are met, proceed to step 3.

3.

Move the transfer lever to the full load position.  With the injection pump regulating lever resting against the full load stop, the roller in the slotted
lever should be approximately 1mm before the end of the slot.  If it is, proceed to step 4.  If it is not, make an adjustment at the ball head in
transfer lever.

Disconnect the connecting rod at the cruise control actuator and move the actuator lever against its idle speed stop.  If the distance between the
ball sockets of the connecting rod is not 1mm shorter that the actual distance between the two ball heads, adjust the connecting rod and reconnect
the linkage.  If the distance between the ball sockets of the connecting rod is 1mm shorter that the actual distance between the two ball heads,
reconnect the linkage and proceed with step 5.

5.

Disconnect the control pressure cable ball socket and pull the cable forward until a slight resistance is felt.  Hold the cable in this position and
attempt to mate the ball socket to the head without moving either piece.  If this cannot be done, adjust the pressure cable at the adjusting nut as
needed.  If this can be done, proceed to step 6.

6.

Reconnect the connecting rod and check full throttle postion by depressing the accelerator pedal until it contacts the kick-down switch.  The lever
on the injection pump should be resting against the full throttle stop.  If it is, test is completed.  If it is not, adjust the Bowden cable at the adjusting
nut as needed.  In the idle postion, the Bowden cable nipple should rest freely against the compression spring.
