Brake Caliper: Service and Repair
Replacement

Front

300 CE, E & TE

REMOVAL

    On 300SE, SEL, 420SEL and 560SEC and SEL series vehicles using Girling type brake calipers, refer to 190D and E Series removal and
installation procedures.

1.

Raise and support vehicle.

2.

Remove tire and wheel assembly.

3.

Open brake caliper bleeder screw, then pump brake fluid out of front brake circuit.

4.

Disconnect and cap brake hose from brake line.

5.

On vehicles with wear indicator, pull clip sensor cables out of caliper plug connector.

6.

On all models, remove brake lining wear indicator plug connector and brake hose from caliper.

7.

Cap caliper and brake hose openings.

8.

Unstake locking plate, then remove caliper pin attaching bolts.

9.

Remove caliper from steering knuckle.
