Heater Control Valve: Testing and Inspection

Monovalve

Mono Valve Location

CONTROL CIRCUIT

1.

Disconnect the electrical connector at the mono valve.

2.

Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.

3.

Depress the (O) "OFF" button at the ACC control panel. 

4.

With a suitable Volt/ohmmeter, check the voltage at the mono valve electrical connector. Voltage should be:

Greater than 11 volts

If the voltage is incorrect, check the fuse and power supply for the mono valve, the ground circuit from the ACC control unit and the ACC control
unit. Refer to SCHEMATIC DIAGRAMS.

RESISTANCE CHECK

5.

With the electrical connector disconnected, check the resistance across the mono valve terminals. The resistance should be:

Approx. 11 - 19 ohms

FUNCTION TEST

6.

Reconnect the electrical connector.

7.

Start the engine and warm up to normal operating temperature

8.

With the doors and windows closed, and the interior temperature below approx. 68°F:

a. Adjust the temperature selector wheel approx. 5 degrees higher than the actual interior temperature. 
b. Select the "auto" fan speed.
c. Depress the TOP/BOTTOM function button.

Mono Valve

9.

Carefully check the mono valve for pulsating action (by touch):

The mono valve should be heard or felt to pulse (frequency may vary). Also, the coolant hoses at both sides of the valve should be hot.
