HARD TRANSMISSION ENGAGEMENT INTO "D" OR "R" AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 722.4 MODELS 1.24.026, 201.0,
201.1

Customer complaints regarding delayed shifting and resultant harsh engagement when shifting transmission into "D" or "R" may be resolved by
replacing the transmission fluid with ATF, part no. 001 989 07 03 (this oil should not be used for regular maintenance on vehicles with no cornplaints).
The vehicle should then be reevaluated after having been driven up to 300 miles. If the complaint is not resolved after this period, then certain
transmission components should be replaced.

The procedure for performing this modification is outlined in the attached Work Instructions # 240.

Note:

If transmission components were replaced, the ATF, part no. 001 989 07 03 not not be used. Always use regular ATF according to the current
Service Information "Factory-Approved Servioe Products".
