Fuel Rack Position Sensor - Extension Cable

SUBJECT:

EXTENSION CABLE FOR FUEL RACK POSITION SENSOR MODEL 126.120 CALIFORNIA VERSION, M.Y. 1985

Beginning with model year 1985, a shorter cable harness for the fuel rack position sensor is installed on the ME-injection pump. Replacement pumps are
only available with the short cable harness; the part number was not changed.

An extension cable harness for 1984 California vehicles has to be used when an exchange pump is installed. The extension cable harness is held to the
component compartment wall with 4 clips and a cable tie.

Install 4 Clips (Arrows) to Edge of Component Compartment Wall.

Procedure

1.. Remove rubber seal (1) from component compartment wall.

2.

Install 4 clips (arrows) to edge of component compartment wall.

3.

Drill a 7 mm diameter hole into the component compartment wall and install the cable tie (2).

4.

Connect the two cables, mount cable in clips and secure with the cable tie.
