Window Regulator Slider Jaw - Improved Design

WINDOW REGULATOR SLIDER JAW REPLACEMENT MODEL 126

As of July 1982 Production an improved plastic slider jaw for the type 126 window regulators was introduced. In addition, the jaw is now available as
spare part No. 126 720 01 42. This will eliminate the need for replacement of the complete regulator if only the jaw is broken and the regulator arm is
not damaged.

Slider Jaw Replacement

1.

Remove regulator.

2.

Carefully grind off the peened end of the jaw attachment rivet.

3.

Tap out the old jaw.

4.

Insert the new jaw.

5.

Using an appropriately sized socket for support on the back of the rivet, insert in a vise and "set" the new rivet.

6.

Remove from vise and lightly finish peening the rivet in place with a small hammer.

NOTE:

Do not strike the rivet with harsh blows. They are not necessary for setting of the rivet and will damage the assembly by locking the slider jaw to the
regulator arm. The jaw must be free to rotate easily on the rivet at the completion of the installation.

7.

Reinstall regulator and door panel.

Time Allowance

In addition to the respective operation numbers and time allowances to remove the door panel (72-300 to 307) and the window regulator (72-450 to 453)
the following operation number and time allowance should be used in addition to the above:

72-460-01 Slider Jaw, Replace (Window Regulator Removed) 0.2 hr.
