Cabin Air Filter: Service and Repair
Replacing Heater/Ventilation Dust Filter
Replacement Interval
Filter replacement is recommended every 2 years or 15,000 miles. In areas of high dust contamination or strong odors, an earlier replacement interval is
recommended.
NOTE: The filter cannot be cleaned.
Replacement Procedure

Pull out rubber lip seal (arrow).

Disconnect pneumatic lines from main air flap actuators (43, 44).
-
Remove 6 screws (3) and lift air plenum (2).

Pull out outside temperature sensor (B1O/5).
-
Remove air plenum housing (2).
NOTE: The water drain lines (10) must be reinserted without kinks in order to drain.
Dust Filter Installation Position (1)

Lift cover and Lift out dust filter cartridge.

Clean filter housing and cover.
NOTE: Do not attempt to clean dust filters, they should only be replaced.

Install new dust filter (1) according to image.
NOTE:

On vehicles equipped with active charcoal filter (CODE 306a), the dust filter is designed as an active charcoal pre-filter and has on its underside a
layer of active charcoal.

Do not install the non-activated dust filter (which is intended for vehicles without the active charcoal filter) in place of the active charcoal filter.
