DISASSEMBLY

1.

Clamp vacuum pump in a suitable soft jaw vise.

2.

Remove pump closing cover attaching screws and the cover.

3.

Remove compression springs, plate valves and seals from pump.

4.

Remove pump cover attaching screws and the cover.

5.

Remove diaphragm rod attaching screw, then the diaphragm with discs and seals.

ASSEMBLY

1.

Remove all grease from threads in diaphragm rod, then install new O-ring.

2.

Install diaphragm with new discs onto diaphragm rod. Install lower disc with beaded edge down, diaphragm with lettered or raised portion
up and upper disc with beaded edge up.

3.

Apply suitable locking compound to diaphragm screw, then install the screw and torque to 7 ft. lbs., while preventing disc from turning.

4.

Install new check valve and seals into pump housing.

5.

Position pump cover on housing, then install cover screws and turn in 2-3 threads.

6.

Position valve seals into valve housing.

7.

Install vacuum pump adapter cover (part No. 617589036300) to vacuum pump and attach vacuum hose to adapter.

8.

Apply hand pressure to upper corners of vacuum pump cover, then apply a minimum of 14.8 inches Hg vacuum to vacuum pump using a hand
pump attached to hose on adapter.

9.

If vacuum pump holds vacuum with no leakage, torque pump cover screws to 4 ft. lbs.

10.

Remove adapter cover from vacuum pump, then install plate valves into valve seats.

11.

Install compression springs, then the pump closing cover using a new gasket. Torque closing cover attaching screws to 2 ft. lbs.

INSTALLATION

1.

Thoroughly clean vacuum pump sealing surfaces.

2.

Install pump with new gasket to crankcase, ensuring intermediate sleeve is correctly installed and two guide pins are properly positioned in
crankcase.

3.

Connect vacuum lines to pump, then install power steering pump drive belt, radiator shroud, fan and coolant hose.
