Sunroof / Moonroof Cable: Service and Repair

Remove headliner on tilting/sliding roof. See: Sunroof / Moonroof Interior Trim Panel/Service and Repair

Remove panelling in trunk (left).

Unscrew screws (figure 1) on extending support.

Press tilting/sliding roof switch to "roof up", allow control cable to run out of gear unit and pull out toward front.

NOTE: 
-

If the control cable cannot be moved with the electric drive, use the emergency actuation. If the control cable cannot be pulled out, disassemble
the gear unit of the electric drive.

If the control cable still cannot be removed after disassembling the gear unit, it is stuck in the tube, which must then also be removed. See:

It should be possible to pull out the control cable with a maximum force of 70 N. Perform this test with a spring balance (Fig. 2, commercially
available tool).

Coat spiral with MB-Lubricant Paste, part no. 001 989 14 51.

Push control cable all the way into the tube, press tilting/sliding roof switch to "roof down" and allow control cable to run into gear unit until the
holes in the guide plate and the extending support coincide.

NOTE:  When installing the control cable ensure that the guide (Fig. 3) slides into the slot in the tube.

Screw screws (Fig. 1) in.
