Lifter / Lash Adjuster: Service and Repair
Replacement

Checking

1. Remove cylinder head cover.
2. Position cam on respective bucket tappet to base circle (lobe of cam must face up).
3. Press bucket tappet with suitable tool (not steal tool).
4. If one tappet can be pressed more easily in comparison to the others, replace this bucket tappet.

Replacing

5. Remove relevant camshaft.
6. Pull up bucket tappet of respective cylinder.

CAUTION:

Install bucket tappet 1st version, 82 g, only together with double valve spring.

Bucket tappet 2nd version, 67 g, and 3rd version, 52 g, can be installed with the following valve springs,

cyl. double valve spring,

-

cyl. single valve spring,

-

conical valve spring.

Magnets must not be used as minute iron swarf may gather on the magnetic ad surfaces of the bucket tappet and produces damage to buckets
and cams.

^

The bucket tappets must be re installed at the same point inspect visually.
