Ignition Cable: Testing and Inspection
1.
Carefully remove the ignition wire assembly from the distributor cap.
2.
Remove the spark plug connectors from the spark plugs. Check for cracks or burns on the ignition wire assembly.
NOTE: All ignition wires are identified by reference numbers printed near the distributor cap.
CAUTION: Do not attempt to disconnect the ignition wires from the spark plug suppression connectors.
Ignition Wire Test
3.
With an ohmmeter measure the resistance of each ignition wire including suppression connectors. Resistance should be:
Approx. 1 kOhms (±20%).
4.
If the readings are not within specifications replace as necessary.
NOTE: Check with your parts supplier on the availability of individual wires or sets.
