Accelerator - Linkage Adjustment

MODELS 124.034/036 AND 140 WITH ABS/ASR THROTTLE OPERATION

During diagnostic, adjustment and repair procedures, which require an increase of the engine speed, or an accelerator linkage movement with the ignition
"On", the accelerator movement must be done from the inside of the vehicle with the accelerator pedal, and not with the accelerator linkage in the engine
compartment, in order to actuate the idle speed contact switch (S29/3). If this procedure is not observed, the fixed mode operation is activated and a
malfunction is stored in the malfunction memory of the electronic accelerator control unit (N4/1), (for function description, see Introduction Manual,
Model Year 1992, Model 140, Group 30).

This is especially important to remember when performing function checks on throttle operation during PDI or any other service and/or quick checks of
engine performance. Whenever any doubt exists whether or not only the accelerator linkage was moved from the engine compartment, the fault codes
should be read out and erased as necessary.

accelerator fault codes and the connection/operation of the impulse counter.
