1.

Raise and support vehicle.

2.

Remove rear engine mount, then disconnect plug for starting lock switch.

3.

Press in governor cover and remove along with snap ring.

4.

Loosen nut for axial retainer, then swivel axial retainer away in a counterclockwise direction using a screwdriver in slot.

5.

Pull out centrifugal governor, then remove circlip and pull off helical gear.

6.

Move flyweights and check control valve for smoothness of operation. If control valve moves easily, centrifugal governor is satisfactory, proceed
to step 7. If control valve does not move easily, wash out centrifugal governor and dry with compressed air. If control valve is still not operating
smoothly, replace centrifugal governor.

Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. If replacing centrifugal governor, use helical gear from old assembly.
b. When installing helical gear, ensure driver pin engages bore in helical gear.
c. When installing centrifugal governor, rock governor back and forth gently while rotating axial retainer in a clockwise direction until it engages

correctly, position ``A'' shown in Fig. 4.

d. Ensure slot in axial retainer is horizontal, then torque axial retainer nut to specifications.
e. Push cover outward until it rest against the snap ring.
