Radio - Non USA Radio Warranty Rejection

BECKER RADIO EXCHANGE

Non-USA version Becker Grand Prix radios sent to MBNA or Becker of North America for exchange cannot be processed under the Exchange Program.
These radios will be returned to the dealer, through and the warranty claim will be denied.

M-B dealers can avoid accepting non U.S. radios by observing the following:

1.

USA version Becker Grand Prix radios are identified by:

the model designation number 612 or 754 printed on the serial number label or, 

the model designation number 780 engraved on the upper front of the chassis (Figures 1 & 2 respectively).

2.

Closely examine the labels for tampering. Reject any typed labels (B, Figure 1)

3.

The correct serial number prefix for model 612 radios is either R, S, EP, FR, HS or T. Following the prefix will be a seven-digit serial number, the
first three digits must be equal to or greater than the number 610.

4.

The correct serial number prefix for model 754 radios is either T, U or V. Following the prefix will be a seven-digit serial number, the first three
digits must be equal to or greater than the number 670.

5.

The correct serial number prefix for model 780 radios is V. For 1988 production, this prefix will be changed to the letter W, 1989 X, 1990 = V,
1992 = A, etc. Following the prefix will be a seven-digit serial number, greater than or equal to the number 9000001.

6.

Any radio with the letters U, L or UKW on the tuning button faces should immediately be rejected as a non-USA version radio.

Note: 

Do not rely on guideline 6 alone for identification purposes. A USA faceplate may be installed on a non-USA version radio chassis.
