Timing Chain: Description and Operation
Timing chain
A single roller chain is installed between camshaft and crankshaft sprockets, Fig. 5.. The chain is tensioned by a tensioning rail and hydraulic chain
tensioner. The hydraulic chain tensioner is mounted in the timing chain cover and is supplied engine oil through an oil passage in the cover. A separate
roller chain is used to drive the oil pump from the crankshaft.
